SANCTE IOSEPH

for voice and piano

Written in 2018 for mezzo-soprano and piano, this work is set to a Latin text taken from the Litany of Saint Joseph (traditional Catholic devotion prayer). The piano accompaniment throughout is very sparse. In the first part of the work (miserere nobis), the voice sings a cappella. The piano then adds an open chordal accompaniment to the ora pro nobis section. The final part (Kyrie eleison) is antiphonal in style with the voice interacting with the piano.
