Spectre of the Maiden Scorned

Choral

For mezzo-soprano, solo tenor, male voice choir, flute, cor anglais, strings and percussion, Spectre of the Maiden Scorned is a dramatic concert Requiem Mass, made up of 6 scenes.  Written between 2010 – 2012, it is based on a story by Lydia and centres round love, greed and betrayal in the setting of a monastery.  The work utilises Latin texts taken from the Requiem Mass and the Book of Zephaniah as well as an English text taken from “The Maiden’s Lament to her False Lover” by Martha Lavinia Hoffman.
